Kitchen Style Predictions for 2024

January 4, 2024

2023 has come to a close and it’s time to turn our attention to the year ahead. Lots of people are clearing out and prepping for a positive 2024. If you’re considering a little home re-do or a whole makeover, one of the biggest jobs is the kitchen. With plenty of working from home and this also being one of the most rooms in many homes, this is an important room to get right. I wanted to share some of my favourite kitchen style predictions for 2024 to help you get ahead of the game! I’ll be sharing the favourite finishes, colours, textures and materials to consider for your kitchen transformations in 2024.

Over the last couple of years the kitchen has seen a real revival as an important room in the home rather than just the space where food is prepared. With this in mind, the trend predictions for 2024 will see it move even further away from the label of a purely functional room.

Colours

Shades of cream and yellow were big in the world of fashion just a few years ago and now look certain to hit the kitchen in a big way. Buttery-yellow is a great contemporary colour choice for a kitchen, offering some additional light and a little glow that isnt overpowering. Other colours that look likely to be popular are rich earth colours and soft neutrals, all of which combine really well with hues of softer yellow.

The latest trend in colour schemes is to be bold and experiment with colour blocking as well, this will help to give a real sense of character to your kitchen.

If your kitchen is big enough to have a pantry then here the trend is steering towards darker colours rather than the palette of the main part of the kitchen. Dark colours are great for disguising some of the clutter that is often found in a pantry.

Texture

We may be used to clean lines and smooth surfaces in the kitchen. Lots of people prefer to leave the textures to other rooms, but these have recently begun to make an appearance in the kitchen as well.

Think bold wood grains from species such as cherry, oak and walnut. You should also look for wood with rich colours that will really bring the spirit of the outside into your home. Matte surfaces rather than smooth are back and are great in combination with natural surfaces and colourful marble.

Textured tiles whether they are matt or glossy, embossed or ridged will be big in 2024. They will add plenty of texture to your kitchen, offering a fantastic point of contrast. If you are not keen on big colours then texture is the way forward and mixing a range of textures will also be a popular choice, adding a great sense of layering to your kitchen.

Hardware

Don’t expect to see too much bold and in your face hardware in 2024. Pared back seems like it will be the order of the day. Integrated pulls and recessed handles will offer a much sleeker, and practical look to a kitchen with clean lines still firmly the order of the day. Simplicity is key, allowing the cabinetry of your kitchen, and the natural materials of your kitchen worktops to take centre stage.

In direct contrast to this very modern look, you may also see plenty of antique and vintage styles making an appearance. With one of a kind designs and distressed finishes allowing your hardware to speak for itself. With people looking to save money where they can, spending less on hardware is a way you can reduce costs.

Kitchen islands

A rounded kitchen island is an opportunity to ditch the corners. This will certainly be in fashion and with their much more friendly and welcoming vibe, perhaps it will stay for a while?

In a direct contrast, sculptural stone islands are expected to be one of the growing trends for 2024. Dramatic colours, natural shades and veins and even some textural detailing will tie this feature into the rest of the trends for 2024.

Let me know if you’re planning any of these in your home for 2024!
