Leading such busy lives means that we can often forget to just take a moment to ourselves, relax, and celebrate all that we do. After getting engaged at Christmas, the first thing I was excited to do was plan an engagement party to celebrate with all of our friends and family. That was six months ago.. and you guessed it – there still hasn’t been a party! Juggling work, blogging, exercise, the day-to-day stuff like cooking and cleaning is a task in itself, and we often struggle to fit in plans with family and friends; so it was a great excuse to make time for a bit of a celebration when Thatchers sent me a beautiful hamper filled with their new Family Reserve Sparkling Apple Wine.
Thatchers Family Reserve rediscovers the recipe for “champagne cider” originally crafted by Thatchers founder, William Thatcher in the early 1900s. Today, Thatchers has taken William’s sparkling apple wine recipe to create this delicate, elegant fizz, that is just perfect for special occasions and celebrations.
The Thatchers Family Reserve was the perfect tipple for our dinner party. With light golden hues, gentle fine bubbles, and a great combination of intensity, delicacy and length, it is a fantastic alternative to sparkling wine and champagne for those who love something special. The taste is lovely and light, and everyone enjoyed a glass or two with some canapés before dinner.
The bottle is beautiful too and really looks like a special drink; it would make a lovely gift or something a little different to take to a celebration or evening with friends and family.
The evening was spent chatting, laughing and enjoying each others company as well as the delicious food and drinks. Sometimes you really need those special moments with loved ones to remind you to take a step back from the mayhem that is everyday life, and to appreciate those around you. I also realised that I didn’t need an engagement party, but that the thing I was really hoping for was to celebrate with my favourite people around me.
You really don’t need an excuse to celebrate; whether it be hosting a dinner party, visiting family for an afternoon, or getting together with friends at the weekend, it is so lovely just to take a few hours to switch off and live in the moment rather than thinking about work and how busy we usually are, and celebrating the here and now. This Somerset sparkling apple wine is one that will wash your celebrations down perfectly.
So cheers to you and me, to family, friends, life, special moments, and everything that is to come.
