I think it’s pretty clear to say that marble is the current ‘in’ print. There is something just so clean and sophisticated about it – you will probably have noticed it popping up more and more, especially on the likes of social media. In fact, Instagram is probably to thank for so many people loving this print, with the perfect flat-lays and crisp, bright-white marble accessories. These are most definitely what caught my eye.
For Christmas, I was lucky enough to get a new Apple Macbook, which has of course been my pride and joy ever since. So, this being the case (ha ha), I immediately started thinking about covers and cases to keep my new laptop safe and clean… Who knew laptop covers were so pricey? I mean, I know they are protecting an expensive piece of equipment but these things aren’t indestructible (although you certainly might think they are for the price)!
After looking at some gorgeous marble style covers online, I found the ones I really loved were just too far out of my price range for what I wanted to spend on my case. Despite this, after shopping around a little, I decided to create my own marble and gold cover inspired by the beauties I had seen on Instagram and Etsy.
So I spent some time trawling Amazon and Ebay, and found this rubberised hard-shell case in marble print for just £10.99! This was already about a fifth of the price of the ones I had been looking at so I knew I was onto a winner.
What’s great about this is it comes with a top and bottom, so the whole laptop is protected rather than just a skin that makes the top half look pretty. The set also comes with a rubber keyboard protector which I was going to purchase separately anyway. I can’t recommend getting one of these enough, as it is so easy to get dust and crumbs down the gaps in the keys so this will hopefully increase the longevity of your keyboard.
The case simply clicks into place around your macbook so it is super easy to fit. As you can see here the apple logo is still slightly visible through the case when illuminated, which makes it easier to apply the Apple decal.
I found these gold Apple decals on Etsy for about £6 including postage (they are actually only £2.14 for 2 but shipping from the US brought the price up), although you may be able to find them cheaper elsewhere. These ones are great as you get 2 in the pack, just incase you have any mishaps with the first one!
They come with instructions to apply and these are really easy too. Simply cut around the decal you want to use and peel off the card, then apply the sticker to the surface you want the design on. When this is in place, press this on with something that won’t damage the surface but will apply the decal (like a bank card).
Et voila!
There you have it – a marble and gold Macbook case without breaking the bank for less than £15.
Here are the items I used:
White Marble Case – Ebay
Gold Apple Decal – Etsy
If you are going to buy a ready made case, I would definitely check out the designs on Clique Shops via Etsy. They created the case I have featured as the first image on my post, and have some beautiful cases which inspired me to create this!
What laptop case do you use? Have you ever made a DIY case before?
