There are so many things that come into your life out of nowhere, and then suddenly you wonder what you ever did without it…
So many things that just seem to have come along, stolen a few years of your life and then disappeared as if nothing had even happened!
I’ve had so many throughout my life, but nowadays (that makes me sound old) I’d say they are mainly technology based.. tablets, phones, consoles, and the things we use within these.
The main culprits for me are Pinterest, Instagram, online (window) shopping, and Facebook did used to be one, although not so much anymore. All just one of those things where you think ‘oh I’ll just check this…’ or you mindlessly press it out of habit, and then you spend hours scrolling through, or finding something interesting that leads to something else and then finding more stuff and then researching that stuff *breathe* and it just goes on and on and on into a very deep rabbit hole. And when you finally emerge after a few minutes from that rabbit hole, just after you decided to just have a quick scroll through, you realize you’ve lost 3 hours and you promised yourself you were going to have an early night but that is long gone.
Most of the time these things have their own lifespan, and they somehow just fade away. But then one day you see something that reminds you of it, or you’re reminiscing and someone mentions it, and you’re all like ‘OMG that was so amazing, I wasted so many hours on that, lets find it again!’
Half the time you just like to look back on it, and you can spend maybe a few hours rekindling the memories, and then lay it back to bed. HOWEVER, sometimes you just weren’t quite finished that first time, and then you suddenly feel that the void in your life has been filled and you don’t even know what you have been doing without this thing because its just SO GOOD.
And then it begins again..
So here I am.. sitting in bed imagining up outfits that I would totally wear, or that I really want, or maybe even that I’m planning on buying, and I’m fitting each item into the next like a little fashion puzzle.

POLYVORE
I have used up many of my hours on this, once upon a time, maybe in college or uni I think, and I had totally forgot about it until the other day. I was just browsing and saw that oh so recognizable square, filled with fashion and accessories and awesomeness, and it just sucked me right in. I couldn’t remember the name so I had to Google it, but it didn’t take me long.I’m not as stuck to it as I have been with other things, but I am glad I found it again. I don’t think it will steal as much of my life as The Sims did when I was young, or as Pinterest has on many occasions, but I think its an awesome concept.
Its so great for putting together a look you have in your head, or finding that perfect item that you can imagine, but you’ve never actually found in the shops. It’s also so good for experimenting with different pieces together without actually having to buy them and then decide they don’t go together as well as you might have thought.
Lastly, I think it’s a really cool way of showing your arty side.. I did Graphic Design in university, but now I very rarely do much arty crafty (excluding cake) stuff. This gives me a way to get that part of me out and gets me all excited again, and I love that because I wouldn’t ever want to lose that arty side.
So yeah. I have made a rediscovery, but I am wise to the time stealers! So I think this will just be a great little thing to play with every so often. I even downloaded the app so that when I get bored in the hairdressers or if I’m traveling I can just play with outfits!
Do you have any rekindled hobbies or addictive pastimes?
