Bedroom Storage
Your bedroom should be a restful sanctuary that is personal to you. I try to keep my bedroom feeling quite clear and zen, but as a self-confessed fashion addict, sometimes the wardrobe takes over! And for me, clutter doesn’t translate into a good nights sleep. I’ve come across a few hacks to keep my bedroom space (mostly) tidy and feeling relaxing. From easy wins like organising, to more permanent bedroom storage ideas like overbed storage, hopefully something in this post will help you feel a little more zen!
The Art of Being Organised
Being organised looks different for everyone. You might be a super-neat person where every item has its own specific place, or you could be messy-organised which has more of a structured chaos vibe. Regardless of which one you identify with more, staying organised contributes to better productivity in the long run. An easy tip to help most people is to organise your wardrobe and swap out some of your transitional clothing between seasons. Overbed storage is great for this as it prevents things building up on the floor or any other surfaces that can contribute to a cramped and chaotic bedroom where you struggle to relax.
Declutter!
This might seem like an obvious one, but its easy to forget about this in day-to-day life. It’s also easy to allow your space to get cluttered with things like books, skincare, electronics etc, if these are all things you tend to use in the bathroom. You also might be over-accessorising with cute ornaments and collectable items.
Every month or so, take a moment to put everything in it’s home. Your items should have a place they live for the majority of the time, so they are only out when in use. It’s easy to leave things out when you’re busy – my space gets so cluttered if I have a hectic few days. Just make sure you set aside time to clear away and re-organise after the chaos.
Lighting and Storage
Consider installing spotlights or strip lighting inside to give you clear visibility of your belongings and give a luxurious feel. These are great for storage without cupboard doors, as they can encourage you to keep it looking tidy and make sure you only have out the things you want. For example, you could feature a designer bag or a couple of your most cherished items, and store other pieces away. You could also choose to design DIY alcove storage that will give you extra storage space in an aesthetic way, and make your bed feel like more of a centrepieces.
Play with Textures and Finishes
Experimenting with different textures and finishes can add depth to your room. It can also enhance the visual impact of your chosen colour scheme. Perhaps try this to add interest rather than lots of ornaments and pictures. It will feel much less cluttered but still interesting and inviting. You could also keep the walls quite minimal, and use furniture as the feature items to finish the room
Re-arrange
Re-arranging your furniture can breathe new life into your bedroom. I always love a good spring clean and moving around the furniture to make my space feel fresh again! You can also use this as an opportunity to work out how best your furniture fits. This will help maximising your floor space so you feel like you have extra room! Perhaps add some mirrors to make the room feel lighter and brighter too!
Hopefully these things that have helped me might inspire you to have a little spring-summer de-clutter!
