Top Tyre Travel Tips!
As you know, I loooove travelling all over the world, but I’ve also recently really enjoyed travelling more locally too. If you don’t have as much time, or a big budget, doing shorter trips to nearby locations is perfect. I often find so many gems within driving distance. So I’m really trying to do some more city-hopping when I can! I was thinking about some of my top, easy tips for those who fancy doing the same, for tyre-safe travel in a car.
Tyre Safety
Something you might not consider when travelling.. Until you have a personal experience! Driving in a city is usually a safer place for your tyres. The roads tend to be reasonably well-kept and snow and extremely bad rain are relatively rare. (For the UK, that is!) However, some areas further north in the UK, snow and ice is not only likely, it should almost be expected at this time of year. This can be a real test for your vehicle!
Having tyres that support your road journey for longer distances is important too. It’s an inevitable fail. Especially if they are not regularly checked, you’ll likely experience tyre wear or break down, getting you potentially stranded somewhere. And definitely not when you’re in the middle of a fun trip! Make sure you’re set before you leave, or look for local mobile tyre fitters just in case you hit any bumps (no pun intended!) while travelling.
Mobile Tyre Fitting Magic
A mobile tyre fitter’s van is packed with technology and gadgets that can help achieve everything that a fully-equipped garage can do! And this is without needing an inspection pit, various winches and pulleys, or even extra man-power to help muscle recalcitrant parts on and off the car body.
If you don’t have the time or inclination to take your car to your local garage to have your tyres changed, don’t worry. You can book a mobile tyre fitter to come to you! Meaning you can get on with your work (or leisure) while your tyres are given the once-over and made ready for your drive. Yep that’s right! I don’t know why it took me so long to think about this, but you don’t necessarily need to be on the move to use this service. If you’re busy making travel plans, get them out to your home! Just a quick mention here too.. If you are choosing those more northen journeys and moreover, If you are somewhere in Fife, a good recommendation for local mobile tyre fitting is Fife Autocentre.
Your Convenience
Again as mentioned, when you book a mobile tyre fitting service, they come to you. This means that they can come to your house, workplace, or even your home away from home while you are in your hotel or Airbnb. Mobile tyre fitting vans really do live up to their description. They can also be found in just about every corner, nook and hideaway in the UK. No matter if that is somewhere more remote like Scotland, Wales or anywhere in England.
Then when the mobile tyre fitter arrives is also your choice. Book in your tyre check-up or fitting for a time and date that suits your needs. This is much more convenient than going to wait in a garage, or dropping off your car and having to find something to do nearby. The van will arrive, check in with you and then simply get on with the task. Then you can turn your mind to other matters like holiday prep or holiday fun!!
Doubles as An Emergency Service Too!
Even if your tyres are in great shape, definitely get the contact information for your nearest mobile tyre fitting service. This is just in case you suffer a puncture or other tyre damage that needs to be sorted out as soon as possible. If you do need immediate service, there may be a short wait for the mobile tyre fitter to arrive in an emergency. However when they do arrive, they will have you back on the road and driving again asap!
Not as Expensive as You Might Think
Definitely a bonus when its an unexpected cost, especially if you’re already splashing out on a little trip. You might think that a full tyre service, brought to your doorstep, could be a very expensive prospect. In fact, because mobile tyre fitters do not have to pay rent or energy costs, their costs can actually work out cheaper! Plus you don’t need to inconvenience yourself by taking the afternoon off and lurk close to the garage for a few hours while your tyres are taken care of!
So if you have to travel out of town soon, think of mobile tyre fitting. No matter where in the country you are heading. These are just a few tips that came to mind around this for me. Hopefully they might help when you’re consider car travel too. Speaking from experience, its definitely better to be prepared than for something unexpected to happen mid-trip!
