Styling Tights

I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with tights. When they don’t fit well or are styled poorly, I think they can look a little old fashioned and take away more than they add to the outfit. They also kinda remind me of office style (but not in a good way)! I do however love mini skirts and hate the cold, which poses a problem in the Mancunian winter!

So.. I’ve been playing around with some fun tights to switch up my style for winter. UK Tights kindly sent me a few pairs from their extensive range, which I thought would make for the perfect opportunity to have some fun with styling. They are the perfect way to add a little something extra to an outfit whilst keeping (a little bit) warmer than usual! These tights are definitely more fashion over function, but I’m totally here for that, and I love a seasonal accessory.

Dinner & Date Night

This is a super simple way to style some fun tights if you’re struggling with how to start. It’s definitely easier to go simple first. I love an oversized blazer look. It’s great over a mini dress to add a more oversized masculine element, over a casual outfit to make it more dressy, or worn buttoned up alone as a dress with heels.

The way I wear this the most is as an oversized blazer dress. It’s such an easy thing to wear when you aren’t sure what to wear, but feels really put-together. A great way to wear this for the winter months is with some fun tights. If you want to keep it more simple then go for some basic lower denier tights. However this is such a simple outfit, it allows for extra detail in the accessories. I’d 100% recommend adding some fun tights to style it up.

I wore these Transparenze Tabasco tights with a gorge shimmer, for sparkle season of course!

Drinks & A Gig

These fishnet hold up stockings can add a bit more sexiness to an outfit. Or even a little more grunge, depending on the style! I just added these to a mini dress with chunky boots and an oversized jacket. I love this outfit for a gig night or some fun drinks that maybe aren’t in a super fancy location. You could also wear these under jeans with rips for some fun detail and layering.

Shopping & Lunch

This is the most casual of my looks. However adding something a little more fun or ‘out there’ to a casual, daytime look can be a little daunting if you usually keep it more simple. This might seem a little dressy for some daytime situations, but sometimes if you’re feeling a little more glam than usual, a combo of casual and dressy is the perfect solution! I often wear oversized tees, and this denim vest is a go-to of mine to add more structure and layers to an outfit. These paired with my vans are a classic, casual outfit, but adding the tights make the outfit a little more fun and fancy. Of course, you could opt for other patterned tights, something more simple, or even boots with over the knee socks or stockings would look really cool. However, I am once again using the winter period as an excuse to add a little sparkle to everything, so these Fiore Stardust tights were my choice.
