Temporary Storage
Storage solutions have become increasingly popular over the past few years. When traditional rental options are becoming increasingly expensive, temporary storage services are often able to offer a convenient and affordable alternative to a wide range of issues. They can actually be more handy than you realise, so I’m sharing some options you might not have considered but might be a big help or money-saver for you!
While carrying out renovations
One situation where temporary storage can make a lot of sense is if you’re carrying out renovations. For example, if you’re redoing your kitchen, with a temporary storage solution you can take all the furniture and other bits and bobs, putting them in a secure storage facility until the renovation is complete.
This is often a better solution compared to the alternatives, and will hopefully help reduce clutter and mess whilst renovating. This definitely helps to reduce any stress associated with what is already a bit of a hectic situation! You can also take the opportunity to clear out, and maybe sell on anything you don’t use anymore.
During a move
If you’re moving home, then using a temporary storage solution from somewhere like Bright Movers can be a bit of a lifesaver. Whether you’re downsizing and want somewhere to store things while you decide what to get rid of, or you just need to get things out of your hair for a month or so while you move, this temporary storage can really lighten the load and make the move a lot more manageable.
For extended periods of travel
If you plan on going away for an extended period of time, whether a few months or a few years, it could make sense to put some of your possessions into temporary storage. Freeing up some of the space will mean you can rent it out while you’re away, let friends stay in your place, and provide you with some peace of mind that your prized possessions are in a secure storage facility. If it allows you to rent out your home more easily, the storage costs should easily pay for themself.
Decluttering
Lastly, temporary storage can be a really useful solution for people who are just looking to clear through some of their stuff and have a good declutter. Being able to get a sizeable chunk of your belongings out of your hair makes it much easier to go through the things that remain, providing you with the physical and mental space necessary to have a thorough clearout.
If this is your intention, it’s important that temporary storage doesn’t slowly turn into a long-term storage solution. It’s easy to forget about things when they’re not in your immediate vicinity – you want to make sure that the old saying out of sight, out of mind doesn’t start to apply too strongly here. However, if this does happen and you don’t miss the items you’ve put in storage, its likely that you can get rid of some of this too!
These options have been super handy for me and definitely helped with saving a few extra pennies. Hopefully this has inspired you too!
