Manuka Doctor Apple Cider Vinegar
If you know me or follow me on socials, I’m sure you know that I’m a big foodie, and often heading out to local bars and restaurants. However despite this, I also love balancing my lifestyle out with healthy, home-cooked meals, working out and a good routine. Alongside this, something I’ve recently incorporated into my routine is the Manuka Doctor Apple Cider Vinegar.
This ACV is raw and unfiltered, and contain proteins, enzymes and friendly bacteria which gives this type of vinegar a cloudy appearance. It’s this mix of goodness which is known as ‘the mother’. It is made by fermenting apples which turns them into acetic acid – the active ingredient in vinegar. As well as the wellbeing properties from the ACV itself, the Manuka Doctor product has an extra special ingredient. Manuka Honey with a 300 MGO rating. This is a naturally occurring compound found in Manuka honey, which is widely known for its special Antimicrobial properties. Antimicrobials can fight and kill certain types of bacteria.
How do I incorporate this into my lifestyle?
There’s no set way to take this, so just do whatever is easiest for you! I tend to take mine in the morning as part of my everyday routine. This is just easy for me to remember to do alongside my morning coffee and daily supplements, whilst I get ready for the gym. By mid-morning I’m already feeling a little health boost from my am routine!
Lots of people like to make a tonic with Apple Cider Vinegar. You can find some handy recipes on the website here. I tend to take mine diluted either into a tea or even juice. I just find it a quick and easy way to consume, and the range of flavours from Manuka Doctor make it fun to spice up my morning drink! The original Manuka Doctor Apple Cider Vinegar has a mild acidity of vinegar but with the sweetness of honey. The other wellness boosting flavours are ACV with Ginger & Manuka Honey for those who like a spicy kick to their flavours. And then ACV with Turmeric, Manuka Honey & Long Pepper, which also has a light spice.
The Health Benefits
It may help to improve digestion
Like other fermented foods such as yoghurt, raw unfiltered ACV can be considered a probiotic as it contains healthy bacteria which help to maintain a healthy gut microbiome. This is particularly beneficial as apples contain pectin which has been shown to aid digestion.
It may help support your immune system
One of the main functions of our microbiota is to protect our intestine from harmful pathogens and bacteria that enter our gut. Maintaining a healthy gut microbiota helps our gut immune system to fight harmful pathogens efficiently.
It may help to reduce blood glucose levels
The main component of this ACV range is acetic acid. It’s actually recently gained a lot of interest as it has been found to be effective in reducing blood glucose levels. ACV may therefore be able to help in the daily management of type 2 diabetes, as well as reducing the risk of obesity which is frequently associated with diabetes.
You can read more about the benefits on their site here.
I have tried other ACVs previously but this one is by far my absolute favourite. It has a bunch of additional health benefits and I love that it has a range of flavours too.
