The architectural features of a campus might be far from the final criteria when choosing a college or university. However, the beautiful buildings of the Renaissance era are worth visiting when you’re in any country as a tourist. Lots of them are also used as venues for grand events or weddings, so if you are planning something like this, these could be on your list. There are many beautiful campuses to visit, and these will leave a lasting impression.
Flagler College, Florida
If you’re ever in Florida, definitely visit this college. Beautiful brick walls, domes, and balconies create a sense of antiquity. It’s also one of the oldest buildings in the United States. You can book on a tour to see the classroom themselves if you want to see all the detail. Even if you don’t do this, the territory around the college is beautiful. It will take you about an hour to see all the features around the campus.
Lots of students here have also considered this as a wedding venue as it is so pretty. However, balancing wedding planning and student life might seem daunting. Some architectural masterpieces only get better over time. If you ever visit Princeton University, you will be surprised by the similarity of the main campus to the Tower of London! Another feature is the mix of architectural styles. Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance, and even Baroque revival are just some styles you will see if you visit the main campus. Even a small excursion will take at least an hour, so make sure you prepare yourself for lots of interesting information.
University of Salamanca, Spain
This is one of the oldest universities in the world. The main campus was built in 1134 and still looks great! The multi-level building with columns in the form of stalagmites resembles a mini-castle or city hall. This is a very beautiful building that has a long history. If you ever decide to visit Spain and consider studying here, pay a little tourist visit first to learn more about this university and its famous alumni.
Cornell University, New York
Cornell University may seem less ambitious than the previous options, but its definitely not. This beautiful building was built in 1864 and featured stylish brick walls with decorative ornaments and unique wooden beams. Any student architect would be interested in learning more about the architectural features of the main campus. Each building on the 745 acres has certain stylistic differences too. Thats why a tour of the university will be a real treat for anyone interested.
Dartmouth College, New Hampshire
This amazingly beautiful and stylish campus is built in a Georgian style. The central clock tower has a lot in common with Italian architecture. Another distinctive feature of the college is the huge number of trees and an amazing forest view. This is what makes this educational institution so beautiful and unique.
Final Words
Most modern colleges and universities are built with urban infrastructure and rationalism in mind. That is why older campuses are real works of art.
